Hood Internet

Y'all have probably already discovered the incredible site The Hood Internet, home of mashups of your favorite hipster jams with your favorite hip hop/R&B/top 40 jams. But, if you have not...well, you really need to check them out.

My sister Danica first showed me the Hood Internet's stuff a couple years ago. But, recently The Hood Internet has done some incredibly awesome mashups that I just feel the need to share with you, world.

First up is this jam which I think is the Hood Internet's best work yet: a mashup of DMX and The xx. Not only do their names jibe, but the mashup is ridiculously awesome. DMX rapping his classic "X Gon' Give It To Ya" (which you may remember from the classic film Cradle 2 The Grave...) over The xx (who have been described as "the sound of having sex") makes for an EPIC song. Also, I recently heard another excellent Hood Internet track. One that combines Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks" with Dead Prez's "Hip Hop". This song is less epic than "The xx Gon' Give It To Ya", but who'd have thunk "Hip Hop" and "Two Weeks" would make such a great combo? The Hood Internet, that's who. What's great about Hood Internet is that they make awesome pictures for their songs, too. Not many mashup people do that. Here's the art they made for "The xx Gon' Give It To Ya":
